Listen to the Gleaner Podcast where Scott Templeton discusses the history of the club

Our 200th Anniversary officially began at the start of the 2024-2025 season in October of this year. Several special activities open to the entire community have been planned.

Scottish Luncheon and Homecoming BBQ

Saturday, October 12, 2024 The festivities commenced with a Scottish Lunch served at the club. Lunch featured Scottish meat pies from Muir's Bakery in Maxville, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and a selection of Scottish desserts. Tickets were $10 and over 120 people attended the luncheon. It was great to see so many people come out for this special event.

Our Homecoming BBQ took place later that afternoon and included an exhibition of bicentennial artifacts and photos spanning over the decades, 200th-anniversary memorabilia, a family barbeque and games for the kids. The evening concluded with great music from DJ Fritz and good cheer!

Thank you to all those who came out to support the kick off to this very special year!

Morris Craig Commemorative Wooden Block Bonspiel

Week of February 17, 2025 The club's signature curling bonspiel was dedicated this year to the memory of Morris Craig, an individual who gave countless hours to the ice-making efforts, the care and upkeep of the club and it's representation at provincial and national events over many decades. Teams had an opportunity to play with our custom-made wooden blocks. This was the 50th year that these blocks have been used to celebrate our club's unique tradition. Each team played one game (and possibly a playoff game), with the bonspiel winner determined by several point formulas. The entry fee was $120 per team (or $60 for Junior teams) and included 1 game, a 200th-anniversary pin, yummy snacks and a cold beverage. Morris' devotion to the game was recognized during the evening on Saturday, February 22nd.

Bicentennial Banquet

Saturday, April 26, 2025 Join us for a memorable evening as we wrap up the Riverfield Curling Club's 200th year with a special Bicentennial Banquet. This grand finale will mark the culmination of our bicentennial anniversary celebrations, bringing together members, sponsors, and the community to honour two centuries of curling tradition.

The evening will feature heartfelt tributes to the club’s rich history, inspiring guest speakers, and a banquet dinner. As we gather to celebrate, we’ll reflect on the past, share stories, and look ahead to the future of curling in the Chateauguay Valley.

Don't miss an unforgettable night of celebrations to commemorate 200 years of curling, camaraderie, and community.

Tickets for the Bicentennial Banquet can be purchased from bicentennial committee members, at the club bar or online here)
